We got home about 3:15 and the neighbor was having a yard sale...Now I'm not one to pass up many yard sales and when it's right next door, well, of course I have to check it out :). So I'm busy digging and soon I hear Kaylene yelling, DAD! GET OUT OF THE GARAGE, GET OUT OF THE GARAGE, DAD! The back of the garage on the outside was on fire! I wanted to know where Wes was! Soon we spotted him in front of the bushes and grabbed and ran...Randy for a hose and Kay and I to get out of the way. Several neighbors were already on the phone with 911.
People were coming from all corners of the neighborhood to see if they could help and make sure no one was hurt. I have lived here 4 1/2 years and some of these people I have never seen :0. Just goes to show if there's an emergency they will come!
We ended with with I think, 3 firetrucks and several cop cars, who were needed and the paramedics, who thankfully were not needed.
The fire is out and the damage was in the back of the house. The worst damage was inside where they had to tear down the ceiling looking for hot spots. The "excitement" is over and now it's down to assessing the real damages and cleaning and rebuilding. So far the estimate is around 100 grand. Poor Scott! Well the good thing to come of this is we found out we have caring and helpful neighbors in time of need.
